with a 600 dollar roll, 25 nl or short stacked 50 nl?
I want to go up in stakes and trying to build my roll as quickly as possible with some bankroll standards. I am wondering if buying into 50nl with 30 dollars instead of the full buy in at 25nl would help me get there quicker? with playing 19/15 right now 6max...

Never shortstack.
Me being a bankroll nit, didn't move up to 25NL until I had $750. A lot of people would say $600 is fine for it though. Anyhow, def. stay away from $50NL |

And I do understand the downswings that can occur and I would just ahve to drop down in stakes.... |

LINK YO
IMO the only way to defend shortstacking if you are a player who normally doesn't have an edge, and also have no intention of improving as a player. I'm convinced you will realize this if you read the post I linked you to. |

Re: with a 600 dollar roll, 25 nl or short stacked 50 nl?
Just don't do it. It is MUCH MUCH better to be fully rolled. People look for short stackers because it is a sign of weakness.
Play your A game at nl25, and soon you wont have to worry about short stackin nl50 cause you'll be fully rolled for it. The swings can be DEVISTATING. I used to play nl100 with a 1k roll and i would puke everyday. [censored] that. |

Play 25NL if you can actually beat it play 50.
Playing 50 before you can beat it is just going to lose you money faster |

Re: with a 600 dollar roll, 25 nl or short stacked 50 nl?
Buying in for 60BB isn't playing shortstacked... it's kind of a nebulous worst of both worlds. You don't have the implied odds to effectively play speculative hands like SCs but you're too deep to be able to squeeze and pick up dead money which is one of the things that makes actual shortstacking (buying in for ~20 BB) marginally +EV.

Re: with a 600 dollar roll, 25 nl or short stacked 50 nl?
Just because you are buying in for less does not make that a "buy in." The buy in at 50NL is still 50, even if you only have 30. Anyway, if you want, take an occasional shot at 50NL while playing 25NL. Don't go crazy, take reasonable shots when you are playing well and winning money (ie not when you're tilting on a downswing).
