Default ($24) I forgot how to play AK

The villain is 17/9, guess that made me stagger...

Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament
Blinds: t40/t80
8 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: t3014
UTG+1: t1495
MP1: t580
MP2: t1580
CO: t1485
Button: t2123
Hero: t1390
BB: t1833

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to t240, 4 folds, Hero calls t200 (pot was t360), BB folds.

Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t560, 2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets t320, Hero folds.

This is so bad with pot being already 25% of my stack, right? Push FTW?

Shove pf. It really sucks to cold call >15% of our stack pf and then c/f when we don't hit an A or K hi flop.

17/9 tells me nothing, but I could also find a fold against a tight player. Calling is bad.

Shove preflop, hope to win a race! you cant fold AK at this level. You dont have a big enough stack to be cold calling. Get it in with AK - your long term results will prevail

Shove pre-flop with AK? Race? Coin flip your stack with every AK?

i think either shove preflop or call is okay. for me, i push when blind is 100/200 and call when blind is lower.

I shove this.

shoving into a raiser with ak >>> flat calling with a shallow stack and praying to hit top pair

even if the guy is tight.

I would rather fold than call, you hit 1 in 3 but it's worse than that because often he has the same hand as you or at least one of your cards and he wins when you both miss and you fold to his c-bet when the flop comes like this. So you hit maybe 25% and you wont stack him with an actual better hand enough of those times to have the implied odds to play for a pair.
Shove is read dependent. Against these stats I would put him on the 5.4% open range which is 99+ AQ+ AJs. If he folds 99 and AJs it's a fold already (-.17) and it's worse if he folds AQ to your shove (-.57). I would guess he has to be opening mid pairs and AJ/ATs and folding some of the midpairs to your shove for a shove to actually be right.
