Default HU 2-7 - to keep the 8 or not?

So I've been playing a lot of 2-7 and I try to get into HU and short-handed games. When playing HU OOP, I keep getting hands like 8725X. Obv I raise it up. But when it comes to drawing, do I keep the 8 or toss it OOP? An 87 has a decent showdown value in a HU game. But I'm inclined to toss it OOP and keep in IP. Comments?

You should be doing the opposite, be more inclined to get pat OOP and draw smooth in position.

if you and villain are both drawing, you are at a huge disadvantage acting first. that's why, like in every game, you play tighter out of position. so in this game, you should play bigger hands like pat 8's or big one card draws in the sb and less marginal where the decision to break or stay pat is heavily based on the actions of the opponents.

for example, if i get 7432x in the sb, i'm betting all the way and standing pat once i make an 8 or better for the most part.. i probably have opponents beat no matter what they are drawing.

but if i have something like 9542.. that's much tougher to play oop.

If you get pat fast OOP it means you are drawing ahead or equal to the person in position. This is important because it should slow down the person in position and/or make it harder for the in position person to push you off your hand.
