I'm going to post in this thread even though I'm not going to read it.

I'll be god damned if I'm not one of the top 100 NLHE poker players in the world, and I'm probably not one of the top 50 internet players.

I'll also be damned if even half of the top 20 are live players, or if ANY of the top 20 NLHE shorthanded players are live players.

Top 100 in the world? LOL. You are not even top 30 in Scandinavia

This thread have good potential, but not when 95%+ of the posters have never even been close to sit at the same table of players from either end. PA should have a good idea of this, but we can never know his intention for saying whatever he said. Maybe it is like people saying Fahra is such a great player, just to keep him going. Or maybe he means it, who knows..

i'd be happy w/ being a top 5 player at NL30 deep, or a top 50 player at NL50

I really DK what u guys are complaiining about. (hell if you want to prove your so good, maybe use me as a student and turn me into a NL600 winner, showing to all that you really do have the knowledge)

[/ QUOTE ]

to clarify, i am just amused at David's attention whoring, not offended that someone doesnt think online players are great at 10 handed, 500bb-deep NL.

The live players know the internet ones are way better overall
they have a hard time accepting it and try to appear exclusive/elite/on a higher level than the rest.
It's the same game but an online player is way more intelligent and should be able to adapt to the live environment
wich is always softer what KT and PA are doing is just psychological intimidation.
They are used to the hero worship and use it to their advantage Hellmuth does the same thing.

I think live poker requires more skill.

It's so much more than just putting someone on a hand or knowing his hand range.

If you watch sammy farha playing every hand on hsp you might think how can he make money by doing this, but he obviously does. And I don't think he knows a lot about maths.

I think the answer to all this is simple. Online guys see a lot more hands and are generally just all around smarter than the old school love pros. IF and a big IF, the live guys are better at live deep stacked poker, then it would just be a matter of the top online NL pros dedicating themselves to the nuances of deep stacked play and then it would be all over for the live guys. And obviously with 100bb stacks it's not even close. The online guys would destroy the live guys.

[/ QUOTE ]

and you don't think the opposite is true for the live guys? you don't think if they farted around with 100bb stacks for a few months, they couldn't torture the online games? if so, why not?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because A. they never have and if they could they would be doing it already. I mean these guys go to the smelly casino all day and have sick variance at times. So many are broke. They could be grinding the cash games online and making supplemental money.

Plus so many of them are street smart kind of guys. Aren't real good with numbers etc. Lots are just plain stupid. Not that all of the online guys are brillinat, but many are. My poker buddies are ivey league grads and successful wall street guys etc. How many of the live guys could graduate from an ivey league school...lol. Half probably don't even have a high school diploma.

Plus it's hard to adjust to different games when you gain your experience so slowly. How are they going to make huge adjustments and use data to make these adjustments when they can't do it as fast as online guys. I just think overall that if they could do it they would. I mean why not have an extra source of income while lying in bed w/ your laptop?

[/ QUOTE ]
They do have an extra source of income while lying in their bed, or golfing or whatever... sponsorships.

They might even be right, but I m 100% sure things will change in the not so distant future as online players get some more experience playing deepstacked and live. If not for any other reason than the player pool online is vast compared to live. And the adjustment to live play from online isnt THAT hard to make, it doesnt take years. I have crushed live NL (from 2/5 to 25/50) from day 1 (not that is very relevant as the discussion was about higher and against top players). Although I m sure there are some top online players that cant make it for some reason or another.

I don't see a problem here...full ring live vs shorthanded online are different worlds. I'm sure some online guys could adjust, whether they'd want to or not is another story, but what Kenny and PA said is really not debatable until then.
