Default HU vs short buyins

I'd always sat out HU when anyone bought in for less than a full buy-in. Thought otherwise would be ceding an advantage to the opponent.

Recently though I've been playing these guys and finding it quite profitable. I've started to think that these guys often aren't like multitabling "good" shortstackers who know the math that we know & love at 6max.
Rather they seem to be the buy-in short "here for a gamble" type.
The only pisser is that they are more prone to h&r though.

Other opinions and experiences ?

i've found that often only the best players buyin short or for random amounts. Think about it, when they're playing for the remainder of their bankroll, they're obviously going to play great and have had much success.

You've probably thrown away enormous amounts of money doing this.

People that buy in short are usually awful.

People that buy-in for like 85BB's with an odd amount are either awful or good players that want to look like its the last of the bankroll on the line.

Meh. Bad players also buy in for the maximum. Sure the guys who buy in short are going to be on average worse, but its not like you should considering it throwing away money by not playing them. There are plenty of reasons to avoid these people.

It seems unusual for you to think you are better than average in a 100bb HU game but below average in a 20-60bb HU game. Perhaps more study to avoid being so awkardly "specialised", and then its ok to take them on for their choice of stack sizes?

Here's what I do, if I bust him and he reloads for the same amount, 20bb's or whatever I sit out and tell him to reload for more or I wont play. He will then proceed to call me a [censored] and buyin for more.

for 200k hands of hu i refused to play anybody who had less than 50bb. its just personal preference. yea the shortstacks are usually pretty bad, but you can still get action from tagfish (who actually spew at a much higher rate).
