I definitely don't think we are good very often here, but, couldn't it be that since BB just calls the river, he doesn't have flush, and SB could be some whacko with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and 2 pair?

It definitely is a bad spot, but I probably call bc I would be on permatilt if I folded the best hand in a pot this big.

[/ QUOTE ]

A call on the river by the BB doesn't mean that he doesn't have a flush.

It means he doesn't have the nut flush.

Even if he had the nut flush, though unlikely, he could be looking for an overcall.

Yep, these are basically -1BB for each call but +sanity.

[/ QUOTE ]
this is retarded reasoning and a lot of ppl seem to believe its good

folding the loser on the river feels a lot better than calling with it

[/ QUOTE ]

Folding the best hand in an 18.5BB <<<<<<< Making a good fold < Making a sanity call down.

[/ QUOTE ]
either u think ur getting right odds or u dont.

ur "sanity calldown" idea is just a mental trap u fall into that keeps u from making good decisions

If folding the winner is going to cost me over 1BB in tilt then it's +EV for me to call.

Raise the flop for goodness sakes. I'm surprised no one has said it yet. I'm raising this flop 100% of the time, charge them to draw, you prob have the best hand etc etc

Waiting to pop the turn is still the best play here, no? Does anyone ever fold anywhere here?

[/ QUOTE ]

Anyway, back to strategy, any thoughts?

Recently, I've been seeing more monotone flops, always when I hold TPTK or an overpair, and *NEVER* with a flush draw.

In this general situation (which this hand is a fine example of), what would you do? Raise flop? Raise/fold turn?

Do you raise the flop if it's three-handed, and pop the turn if it's HU?

ur idea that ur going to tilt off 1BB is just completely arbitrary and doesnt really have a basis in reality

even with that number granted u misapply it. if ur a 100-1 dog getting 10-1 and will tilt off 1 BB if u fold the winner then u should still fold

As played. I pay off on the river with no club arriving. Ahead of A9, K9, A3, K3, A6 and AcX, Chop chop vs ak. Loads of hands there to justify a river call.
