Gotcha...

Yeah, I've read about the Genarlow Wilson case, and it absolutely disgusts me. There's no way he gets 10 years if he was Caucasian. Even the drafter of that bill said that it was unconsionable to have him serve 10 yrs.

I agree, very ridiculous to deport a resident.. He is an American who happens to be born in Iran. I think the country being Iran has something to do with this.

p.s. he's a scumbag if he really molested a child.

[/ QUOTE ]

which is exactly why he should be deported. he was not born in this country and has not always had citizenship, he earned it, then lost what he had earned. citizenship was not his born-right. there is no question he should be deported

Wow, the immigration system is very efficient. A decade later they take action, sounds like Sheik's newfound stardom makes this a case to build a legal career on

[/ QUOTE ]

fyp.

There's a lot of sketchiness going on here. I just spoke to Shiek...the Review Journal never contacted him for comment. He's figuring some things out now and then might make a public statement depending on what his lawyers instruct him to do.

I think the folks calling him a child molester would be well advised to hold their opinions until more information comes to light. I'm not saying he's guilty or innocent of anything, just that we don't know anything yet.

Simple question:

What was his conviction for? What section of the criminal code? It's a public record so it's going to come out eventually.

Yeah you talk about losing freedoms but those freedoms are for Americans. The Sheik is a resident of the United States, not a citizen. He is here with the permission of the United States Government. While he is here with that permission he has to follow a certain set of laws. Those laws state if you violate certain other laws while here as our guest, we will forcibly remove you from our country and send you back to your country of origin. It's pretty simple follow the guidelines of being a guest of our country or leave. The only thing that sucks about this, is that it took so long.

We have millions of illegal aliens, and residents who are able to be deported for violation of various laws. He submits his photo, fingerprints, and biographical information as part of the process of receiving his residency (residency is not citizenship), obviously his records were cross referenced with his Immigration history and found to be deportable. So ICE went get him, end of story. Follow our laws as our guest or leave.

Would you want a house guest walking around your house messing with your kids. Obviously no, you would remove (DEPORT) him from your home.

Go mess with kids in Iran, with your hitler 'esque president shawn. Leave our kids alone.

(1) Try to think of the most "innocuous" way you can commit a crime and get 9 months for it. It's pretty safe that whatever he served 9 months for, was NOT for innocuous conduct.

(2) Don't really dig the conspiracy theory you're pitching. It's a fairly straightforward application here. a) you're an immigrant b) there is a mandatory deportation law if you're an immigrant and you commit a crime c) you commit a crime d) you're deported. How is that so hard to understand? Look, I disagree with the law, and I question their application here (waiting 10 years), but the law is the law is the law.

(3) Correct. Judges vary in every jurisdiction, whether they preside over civil, criminal, or immigration etc. However, nearly all judges are conservative by nature, and will adhere to what legislature passes and mandates.

[/ QUOTE ]

(1) See Genarlow Wilson. Serving 10 years w/out parole for receiving consensual fellatio from a 15 year old. He was 17 at the time. I'm not saying that's what happened here; just saying there's a range-- and it's wider than most people think.

(2) I'm not pitching a conspiracy theory. DHS selectively enforces this statute. Their decisons as to when to enforce this statute are not random.

(3) Immigration judges have perhaps the greatest degree of discretion in the federal judiciary-- particulary in matters of deportation. Application of this law and its statutory relatives is remarkably uneven.

[/ QUOTE ]

(4) In the Immigration and Customs Executive, also known as ICE in the article, politics is always more important than good policy. The current Homeland Security leadership will always sacrifice good sense, public safety and human life if it will serve the administration's narrow ideologial purposes. Witness their recent hijinks around El Paso and Juarez, where they did nothing while innocent bodies piled up because they thought it would hurt their chances of busting a drug kingpin. This is a very relevant story, because it concerns leadership and priorities at the very same ICE agency that decided to deport Sheiky.

Yeah, just like Nazi Germany. All of you morons who say that have no idea how offensive it is or how retarded you sound when you diminish what happened during the Nazi reign by comparing it to modern day USA. Oh man, America is deporting a non-US citizen who committed a crime, this is just like how the Nazis killed all of those innocent people. I don't think that he should be deported at all, but get out of your "USA is fascist" bubble and take a reality check. For what it's worth, he should have been smart and applied for citizenship as soon as he could, just like any legal immigrant should, but it's too bad that it caught up to him with a wife and child.

[/ QUOTE ]

When people compare something with Nazi Germany they usually mean (even without realizing that they do) the early stages after Hitler came into power and especially after the staged burning of the Reichstag. This was when the country became overtly fascist and civil liberties were trod on with an iron boot.

[/ QUOTE ]

Throwing a criminal who isn't a citizen out of the country surely doesn't violate his civil liberties.

[/ QUOTE ]

How about throwing out a legal resident of 40+ years with a wife and kid who was convicted 12 years ago of a misdemeanor, served his sentence and finished probation years ago?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not arguing this particular case, especially without the facts. My first instict would be the same as yours however.

i sense fark potential with this pic

Here's a history lesson for you. The little girl pictured in the middle was burned with napalm during the Vietnam War. She was running from her village naked because her clothing had been burned off her body. The photo was a very famous one at the time, and I remember when it was first released in the press. It's a harrowing image, and a real one. I don't see anything funny about this at all.

[/ QUOTE ]

This must be one of the most tasteless photoshop jobs of all time. Here's the original photo of the young girl, Phan Thi Kim Phúc, fleeing with other children orphaned after their village was bombed. Hillarious.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude- its supposed to be satirical- like look at the happy corporations while people are being brutally maimed just across the ocean. I'm not one of those art types that says nothing comes in the way of creation, but c'mon, there is some merit to the picture.
