50nl - 2 hands, 2 donks, same line
So I frequently have these guys donk into me on the flop. We all know it can really mean anything. Alot of the time if I have a decent hand I just call, then they c/f the turn. Sometimes the pot the turn and then we check down river and I win. Now it really bothers me when the pot the river. I never know where I am they could have anything. Their lines make no sense with anything.
The following hands I posted because they both happened today. I won a large pot and I lost a large pot. If I had put in a raise anywhere then I would have lost a large pot and won a not so big one. So my question is, how do you usually handle these situations? is calling > raising > folding or something completely different? 40/13/1 Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $55.25 BB: $67.50 UTG: $49.40 Hero (CO): $60.60 BTN: $60.95 Preflop: Hero is dealt T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 Players) UTG calls $0.50, <font color="red">Hero raises to $2.50</font>, 3 folds, UTG calls $2.00 Flop: ($5.75) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) <font color="red">UTG bets $5.75</font>, Hero calls $5.75 Turn: ($17.25) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players) <font color="red">UTG bets $10.00</font>, Hero calls $10.00 River: ($37.25) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) <font color="red">UTG bets all-in for $31.15</font>, Hero calls $31.15 Pot Size: $99.55 ($3 Rake) Villian is standard donk 39/14/1 Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $49.50 BB: $76.05 UTG: $49.10 Hero (MP): $99.85 CO: $66.30 BTN: $68.45 Preflop: Hero is dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players) UTG folds, <font color="red">Hero raises to $1.75</font>, 2 folds, SB calls $1.50, BB calls $1.25 Flop: ($5.25) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players) <font color="red">SB bets $4.00</font>, BB calls $4.00, Hero calls $4.00 Turn: ($17.25) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players) <font color="red">SB bets $12.00</font>, BB folds, Hero calls $12.00 River: ($41.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players) <font color="red">SB bets all-in for $31.75</font>, Hero calls $31.75 Pot Size: $104.75 ($3 Rake) |

Re: 50nl - 2 hands, 2 donks, same line
Looks like value betting on both hands.. I'd probably raise the flop donk in both hands and fold to further agression.

Re: 50nl - 2 hands, 2 donks, same line
Generally I can see me playing Hand 1 similarly if I had a read that he's capable of 3-barreling with a (missed) draw. Donkbetting aggressively on a semi-drawy board like that is something where I felt top pair.
Hand 2 has no draws present so SB is either going nuts or has the nuts, and I really don't like flipping a coin on what his mood today is. In this case: I'd fold the flop in Hand 2. BB calling in between on a board this dry with the preflop raiser still to act behind is not a spot for me to want to continue with QQ. |

Re: 50nl - 2 hands, 2 donks, same line
I can't imagine what raising anywhere in these hands is supposed to accomplish. I probably call down in H1 and fold the turn in H2, but I really try to keep an eye on what different donks show down after donking different boards, and usually some kind of pattern emerges.
Fwiw, I like calling in H1 because he can have a busted draw, and because he limp/called. I see people donk weak hands more often after limp/calling. I don't like calling in H2 because it's still multiway on the turn, so his bet looks pretty strong. |
