AC,

That reminds me. Pretty much anyone who likes clothes that have a huge logo (ie: VERSACE, DIESEL, D&G, TOMMY, SEAN JOHN) or brand name on them. The exception to this, of course, is people who wear highly-logoed athletic wear from Nike, Adidas, etc. That is cool.

[/ QUOTE ]

but why is that? because of the simplicity of the logo? the message it sends vs. the status symbol?

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe because it looks stupid.

I think this is a very silly thead, if this was meant for kicks and as some sorta joke, then I guess it's ok but dont' I recall Diablo posting bitching how the quality of the threads in OOT are boo hoo?

If it was someone else, my sincerest apologies.

The question itself: People that like to judge books based on the covers and make threads of a similar fashion do NOT suck, but do need to realize being so judgemental to a point where if person likes X then he must be Y is borderline childish.

People have been putting labels on one another, needlessly, for so long... I wish we'd start moving away from that , especially considering how many different people we get to meet on the internet, not try and flourish labelling even further with threads such as this.

Bison,

What makes you think I was trying to be funny?

Curious,

Sucker

I think you missed El D's point, he can correct me if I'm wrong. "Like" may be the wrong term. Enjoying John Grisham as some good airplane reading is perfectly okay, and doesn't say anything about a person. Thinking John Grisham is at the pinnacle of literature shows that a person doesn't know too much.

I think that's the point here.

bison: You're right, THAT would have been funny.

Alex: Don't worry, I'll start the "things that people don't like that let you know they suck" pretty soon and then you can try and make a case for not liking this thread

El D,

I'll take "touchy-feely feel-good philosophy" for $1000.

Oh, and any modern popular country music. It all blows, and people who like it generally tend to blow as well.

Are you over 40? Because liking them is much more excusable if you are older and like them in a nostalgic sense. I was mostly referring to people in my age group (early-mid 20s) who like them because it was cool to be a hippie in high school.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm 25. I wan't a hippie EVER. I just think they make good music.

Music is something I try to evaluate based on quality, not the fan base.

Off the top of my head,
Dave Matthews, Jacques Derridas, CSI: Miami, the Yankees, University of Virginia, Miami football, any sort of continental philosophy, figure skating, Duke basketball, George W. Bush, and Ayn Rand.
