I'll be up there this weekend, although I will probably only play one night. I really hope the big limit game gets going as I'm mostly a limit player, but I can give the 2/3 a try and hope I don't run in on any of you guys

Yeah, I'd love to see a mid-limit game going when I'm up there next weekend, but I haven't seen anything bigger than 6/12, or more realistically, 4/8 w/a half kill, spread in Tahoe for a few years now. They used to spread a good 20/40 game with overs, but I don't think that goes anymore. But I'm not a local, just another tourist from the Bay Area who goes up to enjoy the fishing/camping/whatever. I like to play some cards in the evening after the wife and kids go to bed, but in my recent experience LHE is dead in Tahoe. Hell, if it weren't for San Jose's screwy $200/bet limit it would likely be dead in the Bay Area as well.

Have fun this weekend, and definitely give the 2/3 a try.

I just bumped another thread (already linked in this one) where SFBobMar said he was going to be there this weekend. I'll be there too. If anyone else is going to be there and wants to grab a beer or say hi drop me a PM.

I'll happily do a TR once I return.

If you are looking for a place to just play poker, then the Reno/Tahoe area probably isn't the best choice out there. I don't play live poker, but a friend of mine plays in Reno. While the games are decent, there aren't a lot of them, and it's going to depend on the season...winter/summer being good, the others are pretty slow up here. We're both planning on hitting up South Shore at some point (mostly because of the posts here), but its just a longer drive than Reno, and it FEELS like a way longer drive.

If you are looking for a nice/beautiful area to live in, and plan on skiing/snowboarding a lot, then this is one of the best places to live Reno on the otherhand is just a desert

Well. I played at MontBleu and Harvey's. MontBleu had a pot-limit mixed game going. I hate stud so I tried their weird 2-6 spread limit instead. They were bad players, including one guy that probably never played in a casino before, who obviously was the big winner of the night. There were no loose donators, just weak players. I couldn't get any decent cards and the dealers were very slow, so I left for Harvey's after an hour, down $19.

Harvey's has a lot of no limit going, 2/3, 3/5, and 5/10. The 2/3 had mostly mediocre players too. There were one or two loose donators, but they had about run out of money when I arrived. There was only one guy that I didn't have a pretty good idea of where he stood most of the time, and luckily he was to my right. I got lucky with a double-up and had to leave after about an hour to meet a buddy. I think it would have been a good game if I had more time. Most stacks were between $200 and $400.

The town was packed. I've never seen it that crowded. Free alcohol and people jammed arseholes to elbows makes for a bad scene.
