just found a newsweek article on msnbc about the 100 best public schools in the US.

anybody goto them...i went to a fairly horrible highschool in Ky,which has no schools in the top 100, but i doont see how it would have made me anybetter than going to one of these below..

We need these schools cross-posted with a richest school districts and I bet there's a noticeable correlation.

Just a quick look at that list had a couple pop out to me :

La Jolla = Rich area of San Diego
Lincoln Park = Rich area of Chicago

I noticed that all the top 100s from MD are in the Bethesda area, which is very wealthy, and in a very rich county in general.

its a pretty crap rating though:

Advanced Placement, Intl. Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2006 divided by the number of graduating seniors.

my school only made top 20 cause it pressured all its kids to take AP classes even if they weren't qualified.

Heh, yeah, very similar story. I went to Mercer Island. Not sure what happened, or why Kamiak out in po-dunk Mukilteo makes the list but neither of our old schools which reside in rich suburbs do.

My school wasn't on there, and I'd tend to agree. I guess they didn't get any better in the last 13 years.
