Re: *** Official St Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series Thread **
[ QUOTE ]
This analysis is DEAD ON THE MONEY! Man it's so sad watching him fall behind all the time and then either try to nibble and walk yet another batter, or grove one that lands somewhere in Illinois. [/ QUOTE ] The thing is I actually liked Izzy when he first came up with the Cardinals. My intense dislike started at about the same time that he started throwing that pitch. He needs to just go back to that straight 94-95 mph fastball that he can actually throw for strikes and the knuckle curve. He seemed a lot more dominating (relatively speaking) to me when he just threw those two pitches. |

according to him...it was his cutter that made him
although he realizes it is the pitch that is repeatedly burning him there is a story on it on www.stlcardinals.com right now like you, I always thought it was his nasty curveball and mid-90s fastball that made him |

Re: *** Official St Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series Thread **
Just read the article you posted.
Can someone explain the following to me "My cutter has been my bread-and-butter the last few years," he said. "But on all the big hits that I've given up, probably 99.9 percent of them have been on cutters." How can his cutter be his "bread-and-butter" when I guess the only times he has given up hits are when he throws the cutter. I just don't get it. I also don't remember him using that pitch before where as now it seems like it is the only pitch he throws. Once in a while I'll seem him hit 94-95 on the gun, and I think to myself, why can't you revert back to the power pitcher you used to be? |

Lol, I also read the following in that link you posted.
"La Russa said that Jeff Suppan will start Friday's series opener at home against the Cubs, while Chris Carpenter will get an extra day of rest and pitch on Saturday. Jeff Weaver is on track for Sunday. ... Jason Marquis is sporting a new look, showing the stirrups rather than wearing his pants all the way down to his shoes. " Well thank God. Now he just needs to work out the minor problems like his pitching and everything will be fine. |

Edit - exerpt from article: "Unfortunately, that plan of attack has led to 10 home runs, the most Isringhausen has ever allowed in a season as a reliever. It's one short of his total from his first four years in St. Louis combined." Wow. Just wow. |

[ QUOTE ] What happened to this guy? ((Cut picture of Mulder)) 3.45 ERA, 153 SO, 51 walks, 21 wins, 1.156 WHIP Where did he go? And how is it even possible for a guy who is 6'6'' to only throw 84 mph? [/ QUOTE ] Seriously... next time Beane calls up the Cardinal's FO asking about a trade, they need hang up the phone before doing anything stupid. Man, watching him pitch tonight made me feel sad for the guy. Grooving 85 mph heaters. He had absolutely nothing to go with tonight. Let's call the A's and ask if we can have Dan Haren for Izzy and Mulder, but hang up before we hear them laughing. [/ QUOTE ] |

That was just a lazy play by Wilson. Ugly to give up a run like that.

Re: *** Official St Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series Thread **
Interesting 9th inning...
Preston Wilson strikes out and then stares down the pitcher like it was the pitcher's fault he can't hit... Then Aaron Miles swings at the first pitch he sees (with one out in the top of the 9th down 4) and pops out. Then Duncan goes up there hacking and doesn't even come close on 2/3 swings... |
