POWER TRIPLE: raise flop, check behind turn, fold river
30 online. 5 handed. I decide to get frisky and raise T8 of [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in the CO, not a standard raise for me and I'd rather not focus the discussion on that, though feel free to mention it quickly if you hate.
Folded to BB who 3b. First orbit and I have no reads. *** FLOP *** [6s 3d Ts] Villain bets and calls my raise. *** TURN *** [6s 3d Ts] [As] check, check. *** RIVER *** [6s 3d Ts As] [Ks] villain bets and I fold. I think every postflop street is debatable. SIDE NOTE Can someone plz tell me what is with the converters? FTR never works for me. I tried neildewhurst for this one too and I got an error. I just copy paste from the FT chat window that appears when you click "Last Hand." What I am doing wrong? |

Re: POWER TRIPLE: raise flop, check behind turn, fold river
I think the river is a fold with that 4th spade. His 3 bet PF considerably ups the hands he has that have you beat on the turn/river.
PF is fine, flop is fine, turn probably does come down to b/f or check behind. I think I favor b/f because even though you'll be folding to bluffs occasionally, the combination of the chance you are behind (his PF 3bet makes it likely) and your crappy equity anyway (there's a boatload of cards on the river that you hate) makes it ok to fold to a c/r imo. |

I would play it like you, except I would raise the river about 1/4 to 1/6th of the time.

b/f turn? [/ QUOTE ] I thought there was enough chance of a bluff there that I didn't feel comfortable folding. Also, at this point what is his range? Big aces that call or c/raise, big broadway overs that fold or c/r as a bluff, JJ-KK that were planning to c/raise the turn and now will calldown, lower pocket pairs that were planning to calldown and now will fold if I bet, sets planning to c/raise. Obviously I want to fold the 6 out broadway over hands, but the hands that beat me, combined with the chance he could bluff, made me prefer a check. Not sure if the decision was best but that was my reasoning. |

[/ QUOTE ] yep, I agree... also, if he got that nonspade Ace there is a good chance u got 5 outs to counterhit, which is around 10% of all rivers. Is noone raising turn in this spot? If BB 3bettor was a LAG 37/26, I would often prefer calling flop and raise a non-A turn. |

Re: POWER TRIPLE: raise flop, check behind turn, fold river
Surprised that's not a standard play for you preflop.
Hand Converter should work. If it doesn't send me one of the HHs and I'll fix it. -DeathDonkey |
