Default 5CD Questions for a newbie...

Hello,

I've pretty new to 5CD and have read up on the MW articles in Cardplayer, etc. but I am having trouble with frequent situations in the standard limit 5CD online games. I have tried to search this forum but its a little difficult with all the different games featured.

I am refering in my questions to the standard 5CD game found on Pokerroom, Eurobet, etc.

If you are the big blind with a low pair and the button raises, is it correct to call if you read him as a player who will raise QQ+. I am assuming I will be in a headup situation with him.
I do not find this information anywhere.

Additionally if you raise QQ and are reraised to a player who frequently raises two pair (jacks up + ) - again is it correct to call the bet. I am assuming you would call the bet with an "any two pair" re-raiser.

Finally I've seen the Weisenberg calling standards for calling in the small blind but what if someone has already bet (read is an any pair player, of which there seem to be plenty) and you hold something like 33 - would you call the extra 50c?

I apologise if these are vague - but any help would be greatly appreciated.

O.

1) If you KNOW for certain that your opponent has QQ or
better, you should fold QQxyz or worse unless you happen to
have a draw to a king-high flush or better. If you don't
have a card higher than a king on a normal flush draw, you
will have to make your flush and then playing it will be
depend on the post-draw play: if your opponent pays off
routinely, then you can play flush draws; if your opponent
never pays off with AA (after he has drawn three), you may
be able to bluff more than the optimal bluffing frequency
to pick up more pots.

2) If you KNOW that your opponent will reraise with two
pairs or better, it will depend on:

a) the worst two pairs he will reraise you with

b) the the size of the pot after you call, so at sites
where the rake is significant relative to the pot size
you may tend to fold more

c) whether you can checkraise profitably when you make
QQQ or better (if you have position over your
opponent, whether you can profitably raise) which also
depends on how often your opponent will call your
raise

d) whether the number of cards he draws will give away
his hand (for example, does he usually draw one to
trips? Here, you will be paying off with two pairs and
losing another bet) so that you can escape if your
opponent will always draws two to trips

e) whether you hold an ace or king (or both in your hand)
so that if you make trips, it is more likely to win
and if you make two pairs you may still win

Examples:

A) You hold QQJxy and your opponent's worst reraising hand
is jacks-up: this is a clear fold!

B) You are the button: this is a clear call especially since
some players will reraise with AA or a weak two pairs

C) You are utg and the reraiser is the cutoff: you would
want to fold (unless you happen to have a draw or a hand
such as QQAKx so your checkraise has more value when you
make trips).

D) You open raise with JJxyz and are reraised. Unless you
are the button and have a card higher than a jack, you
should strongly consider folding. Even though you may be
up against two pairs weaker than jacks up, or AA, you may
also be paying off to a better two pairs (that's one of
the reasons you want one or more cards higher than a jack
in your hand).

3) Completing from the small blind:

If there is already a limper and you are the small blind
with a small pair, you usually can call unless the limper is
often trapping or the big blind will raise with a lot of
hands such as JJ+ or a good flush draw. At PokerRoom or
Eurobet, the rake is brutal, so some of these small pairs
will have even less value if you complete the bet.

Of course, if you limp and the big blind raises, you should
fold a small pair.
