Stars 50plo - flopped idiot\'s straight + nutflush draw
I'm just wondering if I played this well.
And if I didn't have the nutflush draw, I should play this hand less aggressively or no? Do you ever bet this river? Hands like this show the weakness of playing hands oop. If you had position the villian, you would have probably been able to bet him out on the river. Cant fault your flop play. I might check the turn.

Re: Stars 50plo - flopped idiot\'s straight + nutflush draw
Looks fine all around.
Let me be the first to say that most would fold that preflop. Low cards are hard to play UTG, even with a suited ace. But, if the table was passive I would play it carefully. If button had the nut straight, you should have seen a raise on the flop or turn (unless he's an idiot). Most likely button has a set, maybe two pair, and a worse flush draw. You almost certainly have the best hand here. I'd probably make a value bet of $6 to $8. Checking and calling isn't that bad if you have seen button slowplay with a made hand and okay redraws. |

Re: Stars 50plo - flopped idiot\'s straight + nutflush draw
Don't call this hand UTG preflop. You can only make a few nut straights, which are easily counterfitable making you play guessing games the entire hand. While I play this on the button, I muck it UTG 100% of the time.

Yeh, I'm going start mucking hands like these early on.
Results: Villain (button) mucked [7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]] Hero showed [5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] and won ($17.80) with a straight, Four to Eight |
