Political -Personal Question from valenzuela
"Answering this question will take lots of your time but anyway.
What is youre score on The Political Compass ??" 2.75 to the left. 2.25 down. In general I am more sympathetic than average to the truly unlucky. But fiercly reverse course if I think their plight is their own doing. I understand that some will argue that many of those I put in the second category did not have the control of their life that I think they do. But I don't buy it. For instance anyone who is doing poorly while admitting they have never even tried to learn basic probability or logic goes almost automatically into the category of those that don't deserve our help, in my book. In spite of that I think the test scores me slightly liberal. I have a feeling that very few people would answer the questions on the test extremely siimilar to me. But I could be wrong. Take the test everybody. |

[/ QUOTE ] Really? I know math and logic are big with you, but that is really taking it to the extreme. If a guy is a skilled plumber, fallen on hard times, you say "screw him, he's never studied logic?" |

Re: Political -Personal Question from valenzuela
But why does the study of probability and logic trump other forms of self improvement? There are many out there. Of course, I would generally agree that people who are struggling, who are also completely unmotivated to better themselves, don't deserve alot of help. That falls into 2 categories though 1) trying to improve, or 2) not trying to improve. I don't see where probability and logic come into play.

It trumps most forms, except perhaps physical fitness, because it comes into play in so many areas. Including plumbing by the way.

Re: Political -Personal Question from valenzuela
thanks for answering my question.
I expected you to be more to the right on economic issues although. My guess was something around +3,-2. My score is +5.63 ,-5.90. Do you like Beethoven? He is on the same spot you are btw. |

+4.88, -4.00
I'm 40, undergrad degree from Berkeley, practicing physician. There are more books I want to read. Live in Reno. What is the chance of significant change in my scores on this in 10 years, and in which direction? |
