Proper buy-ins for NLHE ring games?
Greetings. I'm not sure where to put this thread, so, as a newbie, I chose here.
Up to this point I primarily play in internet tourneys. If I were to go to cash games, what would the proper NLHE buyin range be vs. Big Blind?

100 BB is generally the max allowed and usually your best option.

I typically buy in for 100bb because it allows for more aggression as "pot control" with one-pair hands isn't as much of an issue. I think there are reasons to buy in shorter depending on your game and who you are sitting with. Sometimes you can exploit a certain players, or the tables tendencies, by sitting with a short stack. For example, if you are sitting at a NL table with lots of light raising and re-raise, you might maximize your winrate and/or reduce your variance by playing short. Lucky

[/ QUOTE ] buy in for the minimum. add money as needed depending on the texture of the game. your generally gonna have as much on the table as the biggest stack thhat has never folded an overpair.

The proper buy-in amount is the maximum allowed. Some say the exception is when you don't feel your postflop skills are good enough, then buy in for the minimum and only play hands you want to get all-in preflop or on the flop.
My personal opinion is that if the latter is the case, the game is too big for you.
