Funny AA story, a little long

20/40 at Lucky Chances a few weeks ago. No strategy here, but this one couldn't have been written any better ( I may have 1-2 small details wrong, but nothing is exaggerated)...

Call Player A "Joe" and Player B "Frank." Names changed to protect the innocent.

Lucky Chances allows 90 minutes from call-in time to arrival time at the Casino, if you're late, you're scratched. Or so the rule says.

Joe is at the top of the list when the first seat in the feeder game opens (its must-move). However, Joe has been on the list for nearly two hours before he arrives. The floor staff hold the seat and allow him to take it, apparently he tips well (this is absolutely not a criticism of Joe, he is a nice guy, and did nothing that any of us wouldn't have done).

Thing is, this irks some players at the table. Why? Because third on the wait list is the biggest live one in the history of poker. No joke. Call him Steve. When Steve enters the casino, the world becomes a little surreal. The action stops. Players think only about getting a shot with Steve. If Steve is at the third game, three games can go all night, when one might normally peter out.

Thus, Joe's claiming the seat late leads some of the players, who feel that Steve is the only reason to be at the casino, to wonder how much longer they'll have to wait, and 1-2 of them grumble about it.

To the point: Joe's very first hand:

By rule he kills the pot after the button, making it $80 to go. He bought in for 4K. Frank, in early position, calls the $80. Can't remember if there were any other callers before it gets to Joe, who makes a big raise, to $400 or $500, as I recall. Frank decides that Joe is making a move, as he is perfectly capable of doing, and will simply take down the pot with an all-in (he has Joe covered).

Thing is, Joe calmly shrugs his shoulders and calls.

Oops.

After a fairly harmless looking 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] flop, Joe turns over his rockets.

Frank isn't even watching the hand. Turn is some blank, the Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or something.

But with the 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the river, Frank suddenly looks up, and turns over the 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

I'd conclude with some comment about the Poker Gods, except that I don't have anything bad to say about Joe (in fact, the grumblers are more annoying). Unbelievable set of circumstances though.

Thanks. I was about to start a thread asking if aces ever lose in live poker, or if it's only online. Now I don't have to.

I dont get what the point is here.
What does the third guy(Steve) have to do with the outcome of this hand?
....or are you implying that FRANK is the official "live one" now,and the these grumbling regular players will take him or STEVE as well ,in the must-move game?
Did Joe re-load FWIW?
How did you fare during this session?

You're in college, posting at 3 in the morning on a web site (and unlike my post, I'm sure everyone cares about where you spend your summers).

You have a poker web site, but you want to quit poker because you "can't take the swings" (instead you'll just coach).

You have more that 11,000 posts here, and yet you're still angry at a random post, and it takes you more time to reply your anger than to read the post.

Funny, we were talking just the other night about how to tell the losing 2+2 regulars from the winners.

Not quite sure you if you are sarcastically pissed at me like the above...

But there is NO point here. It was just "funny" that the guy cheats to get on the table, annoying the people waiting for Steve, then proceeds to lose his stack on his very first hand with AA to trash. Just a dumb story.

Granted, I did drone on a bit.

He went on to have a terrible night, got stacked several times. I had a great night, probably best ever at that game, but that was coincidental.

ive played ~5k hands this week. I just want to supplement the poker w/ coaching, not replace. I can't always play big sessions because as you said, im in college, so doing random 1 hour coaching sessions is a good idea.

Anyway, I apologize for being snappy as I am very stressed out, but your post was pretty bad. Still, I don't usually act like such a dick. (this isnt sarcasm fwiw)

But your post was rather personal, and completely irellevent to the topic of this thread, and seems pretty unnecessary.
