getting annoyed with critics
How do you guys deal with fish who criticize your play? It really annoys me when I play a hand right, according to 2+2'ers and then get laughed at whether I win or lose. I feel the need to explain myself to these idiots but I suppose telling them the right way to play a hand is just gonna teach them and make the table less profitable. It's just so hard to ignore some 'know nothing know-it-all' and let them feel superior.

Who cares what they say anyways? But look a little closer. They're telling you how they play. Live play, watch how others react to their (usually) wrong advice also. b |

Re: getting annoyed with critics
I ask them for advice and use it against them -- if your coach advises you to do something, or advises you against doing something, you'd expect him to follow the same playing style...

Re: getting annoyed with critics
Poker is about making $$ through deception. You're not trying to win any medals or kudos. You're trying to take their $$ by maximizing your chances of getting their $$ on every street.
If it's a live game, worry about adjusting your game to what they say to make $$. People are giving you information - use it. If you are using - and I emphasis USING - for the intellectual or artistic or competitive aspects of the game, then you have three aspects right there that will be used against you in the right setting. |

CB, what I like to do is talk back and pretend you're a fish. Mis-use terms like reverse implied odds, exaggereate the odds of you winning, stuff like that. You're toying with him and outsmarting him in the conversation, which will save your pride, plus it makes them think you are awful. They will give you alot more money once they think you suck.
