cant figure out how to open my port....

the instructions are pretty vague

i'm running windows 2000
I tried adding the port to my router settings, but it didn't seem to work

Yeah, opening a port isn't trivial, especially if you've never tinkered with it before. It must be allowed by the router, OS, and any firewalls you might be running.
