Default raising when first one in

I've had several people tell me now that in NL; if no
one has entered the pot; you should NEVER EVER limp;
ALWAYS either raise or fold. Some of them tell me this
is also true in limit; which; after 25 yrs. of playing
limit holdem;I don't believe to be true;unless maybe
in very late position and no one has entered.
Anyone have any constructive thoughts on this?

As you can see; I'm relatively new to this forum.
I tried to take this advice; typed "raising when
first one in" into the search box; and got results;
but none on THIS subject. Can you please instruct
me on the proper way to use the search function,
as you suggest? TY

try "always open raise" and "open limp" "openlimp" "openraise"

in general ... most 2+2 poster say its never right to open limp (at least in 6max) sklansky says in NLTP that its right to open limp on the Button with drawing hands like 22 or J9s. The reason is that you want a chance to get the stacks from the blinds.

I mostly open raise anything on the button but I sometimes limp with sc's or pockets. sometimes I minraise them to prevent a raise from the blinds
