Default Seeing things that already happened...

Maybe this should go in psychology or something, but this forum seems appropriate as well:

Let me describe the course of events, this happens all the time (probably to you as well):
1. I use my cell phone and set it down on the table
2. Backlight goes off and that catches my eye
3. I turn to look to see what the turning off of the light was and catch the tail end of the light turning off.

BUT think about this: how could I turn to see it turning off since it is the cell phone turning off that caused me to look in the first place.

This seems bizarre...

Either it dims, then turns off and you notice the dim first and then see it totally go out. My cell does that. Or you are anticipating it and you imagine it and look over. Nothing special.

Just tested it out, it doesn't dim first.

My thoughts:
I see the full thing out of the corner of my eye and my brain replays the last 1/10th of a second just to inform my conscious self what happened....or I could be crazy

You sure it's not the TV or some other light source reflecting off the surface? This happens to me a lot, and that's usually what it is.

Sounds like you may need a new cell phone. Yours is obviously possessed.

Not sure if this means anything, but there are times when I am sitting and I take in things that are happening around me and at one specific point, i will feel like I had been there before or the exact same thing has happened before. This freaks me out as I continue to sit there and think about when it has happened in the past. I do not remember, but it feels so familiar. I guess I am crazy

Yobz,

Did you ever see the Kenan and Kel episode where everyone thought Kel was psychic? He told Kenan's dad when the phone was about to ring, among other things.

He turned out not to be a psychic.

I'm not sure if the same applies to vision, but we have short term auditory memory that's similar to the type of visual memory that OP is hypothesizing. This is why you can be ignoring someone and then if they say "What did I just say?" you can usually repeat the last few words that they said.

Could be you're in an area where cell service is off and on. The light on my phone will sometimes flash on when it goes from digital to analog and back again.
