Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
[ QUOTE ]
Ugh, Umenyiora if only the game had gone to OT. [/ QUOTE ] The one tackle wasn't a sack because McNabb didn't lose any yardage. If McNabb was 2 feet back, Osi would have had 7. So close, dammit! |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
Romo is half way to tying that interception record tonight boys. It won't happen but I thought it was a good reason to give this thread a bump.

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
Heh- I was thinking about this thread when the Bills dropped what would have been his 6th pick.

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
I think we need about 15 more choices in this poll. My brain isn't quite scrambled yet from trying to discern between 25 possibilities.

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
Well, some of these would be just absurd nowadays. There is no way six ties could be beaten. Also, there is no way that a team could ever give up less than 100 yards a game. This should be a poll of just post-merger records, as that would be a whole lot easier to compare.
If you are looking at pre-merger, even though technically not a record the most impressive single season accomplishment is Sammy Baugh leading the NFL in Passing, Punting, and Interceptions in a single season (1943). In that season he threw for 6 TD's in a single game, and nabbed 4 picks in another. Just plain nasty! Oh yea, how come no one mentioned Pacman's single season arrest record?!? |

Also, there is no way that a team could ever give up less than 100 yards a game. [/ QUOTE ] Pretty sure that Pittsburgh held Cleveland to less than 50 yards total offense in the Browns first game back in the NFL in 1999. Certainly that was a unique circumstance, but not that much different than an expansion team playing its first game. --Headhunter |

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
Wow! I just pulled up the stats for that Pit-Cle game. Pit won 43-0...total yards 460-40...FD's 32-2!...TOP 48-12. Amazing.

Re: Most untouchable NFL record?
the 99-yard pass to win a game in overtime. I forget the QB and receiver. But there will be no 100-yard passes. Same for Tony Dorsett's 99-yard run.
It can be tied, but never broken. |
