Ovepair on a somewhat scary board
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
saw flop|saw showdown MP1 ($17.09) MP2 ($17.28) MP3 ($49.70) CO ($17.64) Button ($36.72) Hero ($23.13) BB ($27.35) UTG ($22.42) UTG+1 ($8.78) Preflop: Hero is SB with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $0.10. 1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.25, 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.25, MP3 calls $0.25, 2 folds, Hero (poster) raises to $1.9, 1 fold, UTG+1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls $1.75. I'm in the sb and I raise. I feel I have the best hand pf as any bigger pair would have raised. Another advantage to raising is that my hand plays better HU and I'm likely to win the pot or get it HU w/a sizeable pfr. Flop: ($4.75) 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $5, MP3 calls $5. This is a standard continuation bet for me. I feel I still have the best hand but I'd like to win the pot right here before it gets too big. I made a psb b/c I felt that in addition to the flush draw, our opponent likely has overcard and might have overcards plus a flush draw and I'd like to get him out. Once he called his hand range is any pair bigger than the board, flush draw, or some hand that contains a 4 or a 2 Turn: ($14.75) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets $10 This isn't the best card for my hand but it isn't the worst. I've got about $16 behind me at this point but I don't think I want to put my stack in w/just an overpair. I can't check here b/c there are so many cards that can come on the river and if he makes a big bet, I've gotta call. I feel I'm pot committed here no matter what I do but I don't like my situation if I push and get called. Is this the right move on the turn? |

Re: Ovepair on a somewhat scary board
Yeah. I think you're either ahead of a smaller pair or behind a made flush. B/f is probably the best line on the turn, although I'm open to ideas.

Re: Ovepair on a somewhat scary board
You have $6 behind on the turn, are you really going to fold to any bet/card that comes on the river with 6:35 odds?
If the board was drier I would probably just open push an overpair, but in this case I would probably CRAI the turn. If he checks behind I'm 1/2pb'ing any river. |

Re: Ovepair on a somewhat scary board
Isn't anyone worried that he's going to take a free card on the turn? A 4th diamond isn't good for my hand, neither is any card bigger than T.
Also if I crai, what kind of hands will he call with that I beat? He could be betting a flush or a set or something. |

Re: Ovepair on a somewhat scary board
This looks good. If you're ahead, you're way ahead. If you're not, you have outs.
