$50+15 Live MTT bubble situation #1
This hand is from a live 40 person MTT at Paris, Las Vegas.
Structure is T2000 for $50+15 Final table - 6 remain, 5 positions pay so we're down to the bubble. Blinds are 1k/2k I have about 6k left after posting the 2k blind. I’m the shortest in chips here but there are a few others who are not too far off. Early older gent limps 2k with about 8 or 9k behind, it’s folded to me in the BB and I look down at 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] As it was folded around, I watch the original limper and read that he’s not comfortable with his hand. I think for a bit and process that I have some really thin fold equity here as a push would bring just slightly worse than 2:1. Absent a read here, I guess we just check and see a flop but is it worthwhile here to try to steal here? I guess stealing 1.5k here isn't much, but it does represent another orbit and chipping past someone else in a low position like me. I don’t have much else on this guy as the table has only just assembled and we’ve gone less than one orbit before a few players got knocked out to bring us to this point. TIA |

Push would be really risky. You're assuming that your read is 100% good, and also assuming he doesn't have any reads on you. You're betting 6k to win 1.5k (And your tourney life). Not worth it in my opinion.

What about a check and go? Lol. In other words, just check and shove any flop.

50+15? Fold pre-tournament.

I push. Why? Well because your 8-2s is most likely a live hand and fourth place probably pays [censored] so I would want to try and make a run at first or second. You may not have much FE but I think given the situation, your FE is higher than you expect.

What about a check and go? Lol. In other words, just check and shove any flop. [/ QUOTE ] This is definitely the line that I take on most flops. I would let him know (through body language) that I am considering shoving preflop but then I would shrug and decide to see a flop. This will make it a lot easier to represent an ace or king if it hits. I think that pushing preflop is pretty bad as your fold equity is not going to be very big against a hand that he limped with. Even if he is uncomfortable he is rarely folding. |

50+15? Fold pre-tournament. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, the vig here is ridiculous but there's a lot of dead money here and it's not that hard to get to this point. |
