Anyway, right now smartphones are a tiny niche market almost exclusively used by business people. The iPhone is going after the mass market. Most people don't have $80/mo plans right now and we'll see how that price hike plays with Joe and Jane Public.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is so not true.

Me and a few other people pointed this out earlier in the thread. Almost everyone I know has data plans on their personal phones and I don't think I know ANYONE who doesn't have a smartphone for their personal phone.

I realize that grandma and grandpa aren't going to buy an iPhone but Apple is targeting this at the "I'm young with too much disposable income and need to look cool" crowd and they almost all have smartphones already.

So you missed the big announcement yesterday that there would be third party apps but they would be web based?

[/ QUOTE ]

eh i dont consider AJAX apps to be applications any more than i consider dashboard widgets to be applications.

So except for no Flash, is this thing supposed to have a fully featured version of Safari?

There's a guided tour on Apple's site. I admit it looks super hot. I want one.

Apple Tech Specs

4/8 gb, supposedly 5 hr battery life for talk and video. Whether or not thats true obviously remains to be seen :P

[/ QUOTE ]
hint: no.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually just read an article in the last few days claiming that the talk time is now like 7 hours. Although Apple tends to overstate, I would estimate that 5 hours is actually going to be a realistic figure.
