Based on the pictures, I'm not sure why the fact that she married her dad/uncle isn't a bigger story.

That was my first thought too, that the girl was the guy's illegitimate daughter or something. They look a lot alike.

I am just always amazed at how naive the parents are in these situations. Everytime someone messes up big time, their parents rave about how perfect they were and how they could have changed the world. Wake up, if your daughter was dumb enough to want to do this, she was not going to change the world. Every sob story like this ends up the same, telling us of how much potential the kid had.

Story (with pics). Not a rickroll.

During Windy's freshman year, her 38-year-old track coach, Brenton Wuchae, began taking a more active interest in her, offering to give the 14-year-old rides home from practice.

My two thoughts are

a) Parents give up on parenting and cave to wishes of underage daughter?!?! "Oh we just signed because it was to dang hard not having her speak to us." Really bad parenting.
b) "She could have done anything," Betty said. "She could have set the world on fire. She threw it all away." ... Is her life over? If so then why did you f-ing cave and sign the papers?

RETARDS!

Ummm, the parents named her "Windy". That should have been a clue as to the hilarity that ensued.

I'm thinking that Windy is knocked up. That's the only reason I can come up with that would make a couple of good God fearing Christians from North Carolina sign the consent forms.

Good for that guy. Hopefully I can pull off the same thing in six years. Also, it's not as gross as you guys are making it; when I'm 110 she'll be 86.
