Default PLO200: 2nd nut flush OOP

8-handed. PLO200. Villain is 50/7.9/1.85 over 127 hands. I've played some NLHE200 with him and he wasn't a total donk but also wasn't very good. No other reads.

Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and $200.

Villain is BTN and covers.

UTG+1 limps, Hero limps, villain limps, SB limps, BB checks.

Flop T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($10)

3 checks, Hero bets $9, villain calls, SB calls, BB folds.

Turn 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($37)

SB checks, Hero checks, villain bets $24, SB folds, Hero calls.

River 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($85)

Hero checks, villain bets $63, hero...?

Calls? You're hand is under repped by c/c the turn and checking the river. Obv he could have the NF, but could have a lower one as well. You'd of been better off leading out on the turn.

As played, you can't c/c the turn then c/f this river imo.

Yeah, I think you're stuck at this point. FWIW, that flop bet will get you in a lot of trouble as you have zero outs to the nuts and you're almost always going to be getting callers in a 5-way pot. Even if you had top pair or something so you had multiple ways to win, it might be OK, but I think you should just be checking in this specific hand.

OK, so it's an easy call (which I did). Thanks, everyone.

iggy, you're right about the flop. I am just so used to betting such draws in NLHE that I forget they aren't that good in PLO.

Its not an "easy" call (one you should always make). Rather fold vs nits and flip a coin vs better non-nitty players whether you call or not. Its true that once SB is gone and you check the river bluffing the river with AQJ or whatever is too easy. He is most likely not betting J-high flush twice btw so he most of the time has nuts/air. And it looks like you have something like TT/KK/medium flush and getting TT/KK to fold should be easy.

I'm expecting to see a lone ace of diamonds a lot of the time here. And air. And the nuts. However, I think the latter one is going to be rare enough for it to be worth calling. His stats indicates that he's passive preflop, but aggro on later streets, making the call somewhat easier.

Actually passive preflop and aggro on later streets is how I play also. That sounds more like a nut peddler to me.

I think you should check fold the turn but the rest is OK.

You might be right. I'm still working on 'translating' PTO figures. I just assumed a high aggression level on later streets would imply a certain percentage of bluffs, but there's certainly no guarantee for that without knowing his fold to bet/raise ratio.
