Virtual CD
I have game CDs for my toddlers that are extremely likely to get scratched and become unusable if they are touching them. What I would like to do is make ISOs/UIFs/whatevers in concert with some virtual CD drive emulation software such that I can make a file/shortcut on the desktop for each game disc, and have it auto-mount and auto-play that image. I tried "MagicDisc", but that requires like a multi-step process including right-clicking in the system tray, mounting, browsing for the file, etc, then finding the virtual drive via explorer, etc. Does anyone know if of a virtual CDs app (this is a list of candidates) that will give me the one-click solution I'm hoping for?

Re: Virtual CD
I have Alcohol 120, but it sounds like it's the same as yours.

Re: Virtual CD
Sure, I use various pirate sites for Age of Empires or whatever, but the pirate world isn't much into cracking games for 2 year olds.
Hmmm... Ya know, I'm not opposed to writing a batch file (assuming I can change the batch file's icon to that of the appropriate CD), so maybe someone knows if whether or not one of those virtual CD apps I linked has a command line interface? I was hoping for something free, as well. |

Re: Virtual CD
the daemon tools I suggested laets you mount an .iso file as another drive letter exactly like a CD. What doesn't work doing that?

Re: Virtual CD
I wasn't suggesting you engage in pirating or cracking games. A no-cd patch just allows you to play a game you legally own without inserting the CD every time.
Something like Game Jackal even lets you set parental controls specifying what times the game is available to be played. It generates its own patch, so you won't have to poke around any iffy sites looking for a premade one. It is by no means pirating or cracking software. It just does what you want to do with a game for which you already paid. |
