Default Blackjack on the ship , 7 day cruise

Recently I had the pleasure of a 7 day cruise on a large ship. The ship had a full casino and 5 blackjack tables.

My experience was that almost everybody was a winner at blackjack for the first two days. The next few days seemed approximately what I expected. Then on the last night I saw huge amounts dumped back to the casino and horrible cards for the players.

Something else is that there was one table where the casino admitted in the rules of the game that there were fewer high cards in the shoe, in return for the dealer showing both cards face up so you knew what you had to beat.

If you were running that casino, and you had no ethics, would you rig the blackjack on the last night to boost profits ?

No. I would rig it on the first night. I suspect any experienced scammer would do the same.

They don't "let you win the first one to suck you in" because they have no guarantee you will keep playing. If a game is rigged, the people you see winning are shills -- the mark is never allowed to win.

It is possible they removed more and more aces from the decks each day, but I seriously doubt the game was ever rigged to be +EV for the players.

If this is an international casino the answer is NO. Never!
What cruiseline was this? The salary on most cruise lines are based on tips, hence the dealers/ID:s want you to win.
If its not based on tips, they just dont care. If they do, they would care in your favour, since winning players are happy players=better working conditions.

Management on cruise lines have % on the winnings BUT they can never cheat in a real casino, not without help from at least one dealer+Inspector. From my experience that never happens. During my 5 years as a dealer/ID in 4 different countries+Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Im only aware of once where a dealer have cheated. He took cash chips from a chipping mashine during closing. We dont cheat you, why would we? You lose a certain % on every hand/spin no matter what you do. Cheating to prevent swings must be VERY RARE imo

If you still are afraid of rigged shoes you can always ask what procedures they have about that. Standard is to start chemmy shuffling a f t e r dealer, ID, sometimes pit boss and at least one player have seen the cards before they goes into the mashine/shoe

This is when the table opens of course

How bad is the heat on cruises like this? I imagine they don't get many counters, since that's not really the crowd that takes cruises. Do they bar people from the casino-boats for counting? I'm not a good swimmer.

I never said it was proof, just the way it is. Regarding counters at the seas Im not really sure, at RCCL they didnt really bother. We know what to look for blabla but nobody doesnt really care. If they would ban you, you are obviously just banned from the gamingfloor. In europe this is really not a issue at all since the games are designed to take away the counters. Poor betting spread, poor rules in general etc etc

Blackjack games on cruises have such terrible rules that they dont need to cheat. As for the game wherre they take out all the Qs or Ts or whatever, thats spanish 21 (i think) and that isnt cheating...they make it pretty obvious that those cards are no longer in the deck.
