He wanted you to see how lucky you got because he missed his flush. I'm almost positive that is what happened here because I think every time someone has called me when they couldn't beat my board they had missed some sort of draw.

I really hope the hole cards are in order because it would be completely awesome if the guy started with (35)8 and ran off a pair of queens

I can imagine his reaction to losing the pot if this were true. He probably feels like the deck is rigged

I was really hoping to justify villain by saying he was playing Stud 8, but he didn't have a low either.
