this is a snap call, but bilbo your stoved range has the wrong board. regardless it's still a call.

Lol, yeah, our equity is even better:

Would someone mind explaining why our equity is better here?

I get 384 *0.32 =122 -170 = -47 ??

Also, twOplease, with this equity, why do you still advocate a call?

It's true our equity is worse vs that range, but his range is wider.

For one, he'll do this with any flush draw if he'll do it with Axs. He'll probably also do it with any pair + gutter combos like T9, T8, J9. Probably any OESD as well.

And I didn't include TT or JJ, which are also pair+gutter hands.

I think some players here just remember the few random times some drooler showed a set or two pair and they instantly think
"zomg overpairs bad I fold save money goot" and never want to get the money in again in these kinda of spots. I know, I used to be like that too. Thinking in terms of ranges helped me to accept a key concept: although they will show the better part of their range sometimes in spots like this and you cry, in the long term getting it in is still the right move.

Here's a hand from today's session. Without a read on a player, I'm of the snapcall variety for stacks of 100bb, larger than that and I'll consider folding hands like the one OP had. I just think these calls are largely read dependent. I have been known to make plays like the one villain made in the OP sporadically, but I have to have a real strong read that my opponent will call with an overpair and I'm much more likely to do it with a set than the straight.
