thanks that's what i was thinking his min bet means he's either really weak or really strong, however i was sure he had a decent ace and would call, putting me at a disadvantage.
You're right a big bet is probably in order to prevent what eventually happened...... |

Even if he has the ace, you can catch the flush, or a deuce. Right there you're at 48% equity. If he's on AJ+ you're at about 48%, if his kicker is under 10 then you're at 53. Either way a shove is pretty much daring him to coin flip, which is usually a good move.

Either 4betting on the flop or flat calling works IMO. You have position, so calling is not such a bad move at all. You are most likely not ahead on the flop, so you're really banking on hitting your flush.
