so who cares? There's always next year.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the part that is messed up. I can appreciate that the Manny-apologists are gonna retort with "30/120" or whatever, but come on, I don't care how good you are you can't say publicly "Who cares? There is always next year."

There may be always a next year, but next year and last year mean nothing.

A better response would be "I just have to go out and try to relax and hit the ball the way I know I can. We are down 3-to-1 and we gotta take each game one at a time and do everything we can to pull out with a win tonight. If they win, well I tip my hat to them, they're a great team. Our season will be done with, and we'll start looking toward next year."

Sure my comment is boring and whatnot, but you can't blurt out "Who cares? There is always next year.", no matter how well you perform as an individual.

English is a 2nd language for Manny, and I'm not sure how lucid he is in Spanish. you can't expect a Press Release to come out of his mouth.

or if you do expect it, don't hold your breath.

well it was obviously a stupid thing to say publicly, but that one line isnt the entire point of what he was saying. he said they were coming prepared and were loose, and are ready for a game tonight. he also said he'd give up personal accomplishments for another WS shot. he's in the right mindset, there's no question, and thats why i think the majority of red sox fans aren't up in arms about it.

If it's Cleveland vs Colorado, it's just gonna be another year that the World Series doesn't count.

I thought he said " so who cares, we'll just come back and try and win it next year".

Big difference in those two statements.

P.S. Manny has always shied away from being interviewed because he didn't think his English was good enough. I've got to give anyone a pass that's trying to express something in their 2nd language and it doesn't come out quite right.

And one of these guys wouldn't care that he wasn't on the roster.
