Well, that isn't exactly true. It's possible to bet your board as a bluff versus an opponent you are certain has you beat, but the opponent has to be capable of folding, say TTT, because he knows you'd never bet your board.

But generally betting your board is really, really, bad. Often, check-folding is best.

The slightly trickier spot is when you actually are full with trips on board.

the dude limp-raised his bringin with (A2)2 and raised my complete with (KJ)8 and i won both pots. and he called me a donk and said he's been playing stud all his life and this is just for fun. then challenged me to a $500 last longer. i didn't even DO anything this time.

Lots of times old guys who have been playing "all their lives" have zero game to speak of. I have found this to be especially true with stud games.
