Sammy Farha on HSP
My friend is convinced that Sammy Farha is one of the best NL Hold'em players in the world and that he is just bored with the stakes presented to him on HSP. He believes that Farha playing in this game is equivalent to a player rolled for NL 600 playing 10/25 cent. He backs this up with Farha routinely calling 3 bets preflop with any two cards just so he can see a flop and that leading to trouble throughout the rest of the hand...that if it was real stakes Farha would be smarter preflop and that would lead him to situations where he could display his postflop skills, which my friend believes are world class.
Anybody believe that boredom is the reason Farha is losing and if this was 2k/4k NL he'd dominate? When I challenged my friend for A) why he plays on this show he said it was to get on TV...and when I said why do you want to be shown playing awful on TV his response was a mixture of boredom of the stakes and advertising for it in the Big Game and other live cash games. My friend believes that if Sammy didn't have that big 4 million win or whatever it was in Las Vegas his previous trip we'd see a much different and a very dominant Farha. |

I don't know if it's purely boredom but he's certainly not trying his hardest to win. I think he just likes being involved in every hand on the show.

[/ QUOTE ] i don't think it's boredom at all. often when players get themselves stuck big they get themeselves into big hands figuring it's the quickest way to get their money back. there's a player similar to sammy that plays at my card room. he'll get stuck for 4g at the 2.5/5 game and he'll put 3 more g on the table. he'll play every hand and play them very fast. if he gets hot he'll break the table.. more often he'll just lose the 3g. he'll be back tomorrow and he'll start out playing his game again.. if he gets stuck again he'll play fast again. it's part of the game. there are sammy's all over the place. |

Re: Sammy Farha on HSP
Well his main underlying point is that if Farha is winning 7 million against the best in the world in the biggest stakes you have to have an unbelievable poker mind/skill that, when you want to apply it, would be abel to crush any sort of game.
And when you win 7 million against the best why would you care if you lost 300k when if you put your mind to it you can go out and win 7 million on any trip you take to Vegas and the Big Game? |
