Soccer debate - Club vs. National Team

FWIW, I'd probably rather watch a random Serie A league game than the Intercontinental Cup this year. I know I'd choose watching one of Milan's league games or Coppa Italia games without hesitation.

No one may care to revisit this question, but it occurred to me a little after this thread that the interesting question maybe is not whether Chelsea/ManU/Barcelona beats/ties... Italy/Brazil/Arg etc. What about something like Tottenham vs Belgium/Switzerland/Norway (ie respectable but not currently contenders). Is there a clear better between national and club teams ranked like 10-25 in the world? My inclination, not well supported at all, is that the national teams may look better on paper, but the club teams play better soccer/ are what you'd rather watch as a spectator, b/c of time playing together.
