stars check at check cashing place?

Has anyone tried to cash a stars check (mine will be ~$2k if it matters) at a check cashing place?

if you haven't, do you have any opinions on whether it would or wouldn't work?

i checked a website of a check cashing place around here, and it says they cash payroll checks, lawyers checks, union checks, government issued checks, and insurance settlement checks... i know they don't cash personal checks, but this apparently comes from a 3rd party corporation, or something, right? would they cash it?

it's my first check cash-out from stars, so any help is appreciated.

if you need the money right away I guess you wouldn't mind the 5-9% they charge.

I thought it was interesting they charge 1% for payroll checks, which is less than the 5 dollar fee some banks charge for non member you know if your payroll check is <500

This crap just makes me realize how unappriciative i was when online poker was normal...people are going to keep playing, but they are just driving it underground...ugh whateva....as for the check, yea ur looking at prob 5-8% or so..gl

I don't think he was asking what the percentage juice he will be paying (I know a place that does 3%, but seen as high as 8%). He was asking if the place will actually cash it or not. For that, I do not know. It seems major banks are iffy, so you might have a little more trouble at the check cashing places.

cash the check at your bank or the bank the check is drawn off of.....why you seem so scared?

I was routinely cashing ps checks at a 24 hour check cashing place for 1% a couple months ago before I went busto.

Those currency exchange places are just as rigged as pokerstars if not more, stay far away from both of them.
