This is a strange line. Villian is never going to think you have a Q here very often so unless you have a supertight image I can't see how you can't raise. If you went to 500 I guess you can't really get away from a push but that's poker.

good post but im not sure how often an ace will check behind (esp w/ a good kicker)... i think an ace prob value bets which is easily the correct play.

Even if he has an ace i doubt he is paying off a raise

Flawless,

Seems like a very extensive trap. Would any other river card made you feel as uncomfortable?

After thinking about this for a moment (and erasing a long stupid post) I think a raise is silly on this river. You won't make a Q fold. AQ/AA/77 are definetly getting it in. And anything you beat will not call your raise. So you don't get paid off ever with the outright best hand.

What you need to way to figure out your EV is the times you can get him to fold Qx compared to the times that he holds AA/AQ/77. If making him fold Qx is greater then the other holdings then a raise is in order. NO WAY that is the case here.

Am I alone in thinking you have to bet this river?

I think betting the river is the usual play for most people. I don't actually mind just calling the river, but villian could certainly just have an ace and hero's line looks so suss that a raise may get called. If hero and villian had been going at it it's a totally obvious raise of course.

So only 77 and AA beats you. Barring no amazing reads, this is an easy call.

You've been passive throughout the hand, one presumes to set up the CR on the river. Why get MUBS now?
