Default $25NL AK preflop spot

button was calling ~75% of pfr, no reads on SB and BB.

Stack sizes : button and SB are shortstackers, BB has full stack.

I was planning to call SB all-in raise as it was only $4.50 as button was low-stacked but the BB thought for AGES and then cold-called with a large stack which worried me.

Push or fold?

I think calling is a legitimate option, actually.

If I miss and BB decides to lead into an empty side pot on the flop, I don't have too many regrets about folding. Meanwhile, he's called one massive raise already, and while I don't think this eliminates your folding equity, it does suggest it's not as good as usual, and there's also a very good chance that with at least one and quite possibly two all-in players in the hand, you're going to need to catch an A or K to win anyway.

The possibility that BB is going Hollywood with AA is also a little troubling, although I'm never really sure how to interpret those timing tells.

Meanwhile, though, pushing does also seem like an option to me, and I think I like it better than folding. At least you guarantee yourself five cards that way, and if BB was genuinely uncertain about that first call, that push might be what gets him to dump 99 (or whatnot).

aren't i just flipping with AK though when two guys have already put $5 in the pot preflop? surely one of them has got a PP and with the rake it isn't worth it?

That moves it from a shove to a Phil Hellmuth-style instashove.

I'd shove here, cuz when the flop comes, youre either pushing or folding anyways. with AK i think its best to get your money in preflop
