Default Going to vegas next week...

I am going monday through friday night (taking the red eye home). I am going to be playing $1/2NL and would like to try a few casinos. I am staying at Harrah's, which casinos would be the best for me to go play at? Also what is the max buyin for the $1/2NL games in vegas? Since i will be there over halloween, my brother, a few friends and I want to go out and have some fun, what bars/club should we try? I was in vegas 2 years ago but didn't have any time for anything but the convention. This time its all fun no work, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Before you get your hands slapped for not using the search, do this...

Search in this forum, +vegas +nl -re: in the subject only, within the past 6 months. You will get all the info you need.

I was there 2 weeks ago. Recommend the MGM and Venitian. Nice rooms.

Also check out allvegaspoker.com for info on buy-ins.

I just played poker so no advice on clubs.

Have fun.

allvegaspoker.com, as suggested.

$1/2 NL is everywhere there is a poker room, so take your pick. Don't put too much stock in "the games are great here, they suck over there." $1/2 NL is mostly $1/2 NL. It all depends on luck of the draw, what sort of table you get on at any casino. Take your pick, wins your money.

The only exceptions I'm aware of are:
- the Luxor game. This had a $50 max buy in last I was there. This could actually affect the type of players it draws. It might even be more fun for you to play this style. The implications of that game are probably obvious strategy-wise and player-wise, but ask if you have questions.

- Bellagio - $2/5 is the smallest game.

- Wynn (maybe?) - or maybe others? - uncapped buy in. This also obviously affect the game and the type of players it might draw.

Typically $1/2 has a $200 buy in. Play wherever you think you'd enjoy yourselves the most. The better casinos often have better free liquor served and more attractive waitresses to look at during long stretches of bad cards.

It depends on the casino. Within a five minute or less walk of Harrahs, there are $1/2 or 1/3 NL games at IP, Flamingo, Harrahs, TI, Mirage(I think), Venetian, Ceasars, and Osheas. Within a ten minute walk there are games at Ballys and Planet Hollywood. A short cab or monorail ride(monorail station is at Harrahs) to MGM where you can access games at MB, Luxor, Excalibur, Hooters, and MGM.

FWIW, there is the cheapest craps on the strip(well except for the $2 table at slots o fun) next door to Harrahs at Casino Royale. It's a $3 table.

I dunno about Halloween, but.........

Cheap options.....there is a piano bar at Harrahs and also Carnival Court between Harrahs and IP. There is also a bar in the front of IP that can get pretty packed and O'Sheas can be an ok place to hang out as well as the lounge at Bills.

More upscale expensive nightclubs are everywhere. Pure at Ceasars is supposed to be the "it" place right now. I also see tons of hotties at Tao at Venetian. Expect to spend a ton. If you are over 30, I would pass. You could spend less and get more action at SR. There are often really attractive women in some of the bars at Ceasars although those are pricey.

It's a standard 200 max now. It went to 100 during the summer and a quick change to 200 all the sudden.

Thanks for the suggestions...sorry i haven't checked back i was sick. the $3 craps game sounds good. I haven't played craps much but would like too. Mabye i should look it up. The only thing i remember from the night i played is i had to put a certain amount on 2 of the numbers so they could pay the right odds. thanks again.

If point is 6/8: they pay 6:5 on the odds bet, so bets need to be divisible by 5.
If point is 5/9: they pay 3:2 on the odds bet, so bets need to be even.
If point is 4/10: they pay 2:1 on the odds bet, so bets can be anything.

By a purely money standpoint, don't learn craps. It is my achilles' heal in trying to maintain a bankroll.

But it's soo much fun if the table is lively and winning.
