A question of continuing after Questionable Limp

Hi all,

So I'm taking the plunge, and trying to graduate from lurker to poster-of-hands-played-badly. Hopefully with a view to one day being a poster-of-hands-played-less-badly. Here goes;

BB in this hand is LPA, 40/7/2, so I figure him to take a stab at a lot of hands, especially when no-one shows any strength.

As soon as I hit call, I cursed myself - I've been trying to limp less, especially from early position as I only get myself in trouble...

So I have a GS to the orphan end of a straight, BDNFD and 5SB in the pot. The Stove thinks I have 45% equity against a VPIP of 40 - if I have that right, then I can peel here, right?

pf limp is fine as long as the table is loose and passive. there are also good arguments for raising (especially if utg sucks) and folding (if the table is aggro).

and yeah, good luck with having 45% equity on this board.

You have to be careful about two things when looking at the pure pokerstove percentages--for one thing, pokerstove assumes both of you will be seeing a showdown. If the turn misses you completely, then you're probably going to be forced to check/fold, thereby giving up some of your pot equity. Secondly, your reverse implied odds here suck; if you do hit one of your outs, it becomes fairly unlikely that you're going to get paid off by a worse hand (all of your outs are pretty obvious, save something like the BDFD). Plus of course you're drawing to the bottom end of a straight, and against this opponent I doubt you'd feel comfortable bet/folding when you hit it.

That said, I do think there's an equity edge to peeling here. I just don't think it's that big, and I wouldn't mind passing on it here.

I think another thing to note in relation to stoving this, is villain's VPIP may be 40 but it's unlikely he will be betting the flop with his entire range. Also there are prolly a lot of hands which u have included that he would of raised PF. Just some things to take on board.

This flop isn't great for hand atm, U have an overcard that is vulnerable, if anyone holds a T ur gutshot is bad shape. Ur position here is a real killer &amp; u need 1.5 outs for a BDFD. It's best to not worry bout calling this flop esp in such a small pot.

pot is very small (5SB) and you have about 5 outs, maybe lesser. I think you can fold... you Ace outs might be tainted too, since villian might have two pair when the ace falls.

according to SSHE, pot is small, and you have only few outs. Not worth the effort!
