Default How profitable are the MTT\'s

I've been playing 50-100NL 6 max cash games. I'm thinking spending a little more time playing some MTT's because I find them more enjoyable(and I tilt less. I'm just wondering how profitable they really are? What kind of return are some of ya'll making on them? And let's say I learn to win eventually(which might be a coinflip what buy-in will I need to play to equal a winning 50NL record? I'm just being curious, thanks for everyone's time.

Depends on what your winrate at cash games is.
As far as MTTs go, any positive ROI is considered good, and I think 50-100% is considered successful, and over 100% is awesome, but I really don't know exactly how other people measure it or what they consider good.

I've heard 100% too. Given big MTT's take hours to finish, it seems like you'd have to regularly play 200+ buyin events to really make anything significant per hour though.

It is certainly possible to be well over 100% in lower buyin tourneys (22 or less), and if you multitable that will save you time. Let's say you spent 75 a day and played 25 days and your ROI was a modest 80%, you'd make $1500, which is not bad at all. And of course you'd get better the more you played.

Not at all. If you play a bunch that start around the same time your rate can be kept high even if your ROI suffers because it's more likely you'll go deep in one of them, if less likely you will do well in any individual one, because you aren't paying as close attention or what have you.

My hourly rate is quite good and I've only made the smallest peeps in the major Sunday tournaments. I imagine the hourly rates of players who multitable even more (and have bigger scores than I do) is even higher.
