Re: Straight Draw OOP, coordinated board
Is this a standard preflop call for you? Keep in mind I mostly know SNGs, but I dont see the point of playing this hand OOP in this situation.
When you get to the river, he could have a lot of stuff. Slowplayed (misplayed) trips or an overpair wouldnt surprise me. I think your pot odds plus the chance of being ahead make it a thin call. |

Re: Straight Draw OOP, coordinated board
nah i think i usually fold if it was just heads up, but decided to call this time cause.. well i guess i just felt like it, and we were deep enough that it wasn't clearly bad (could be wrong though)

Re: Straight Draw OOP, coordinated board
40BB's is nowhere near deep enough to make this call preflop. And definitely call river.

Re: Straight Draw OOP, coordinated board
nowhere near? dont want to nitpick because i concede that it's probably -ev, but you saw it was a minraise, not 3x? BB comes along a high % of the time.
edit: and if theres another caller, i think i'd be in there every time, yes/no? |

Re: Straight Draw OOP, coordinated board
I don't think a TAGish player has trips here. The turn is also dangerous enough that I don't see too many reasonable players only calling with trips. It looks like the nut flush or even 44.
I think it's an easy fold but I admit that I have made this call more than once, usually when I don't have a good enough read on the player. What's the buy-in? |

Re: Straight Draw OOP, coordinated board
Yeah, I think this is an easy fold.
I forgot to include 33 or quads in villains range and I couldn't imagine trips raising that river with your actions representing hitting your draw on the river and the 4h hitting both draws. I also can't imagine a bluff on the river with that board and you showing so much strength. |
