$330 at Commerce - 100/200 in BB question
Blinds are 100/200, my stack is about t3000, and SB is t3500. SB is aggressive, but seems like a sound player.
Everyone fold to SB who calls. I have [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T and I check (mistake?). Flop is [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K. SB checks. I bet 200. SB raises to 400. Can I push here? Does my FE plus the chance that I will make a flush if called make this the right play? |

not sure why you bet here. he's giving you a free card, might as well take it. as played i just call, you've got pooter and implied odds. i dont like a push as 15xbb is decently healthy.

The bet was a semi-bluff to take the pot right there.

The bet is fine, I probably call the raise and take the turn with position. Pushing is too far over the top IMO and would smell like a draw.

[/ QUOTE ] don't mind the check from the bb, your stack is awkward as far as raising, 14.5 bb....raise to 600 leaves you at 10bb and would make a flop push pretty elementary. i'd call and catch the flush on the turn cause i'm nasty. Re: $330 at Commerce - 100/200 in BB question
Check in the BB seems pretty standard. Although I like checking behind on the flop. Not only does it give you a free look at the turn, it disguises your hand as most players would think you would bet your flush draw in position. If checked to again on the turn, I bet bout half the pot and hope to take it down right there.

Re: $330 at Commerce - 100/200 in BB question
Anyone who checks behind here is a nit seriously. You most likely have the best hand as long as he doesn't have a K or nut flush draw you are ahead with your FD and overs. So get money into the pot. Also, if you bet the flop and are called if and when your flush comes the pot will be bigger to get larger bets and more chips in.
Onto the hand, I call the minriase he made it cheap he most likely has Kx or bot 2 type of hand something that will prob pay off a bet on 1 street if you hir your flush. You are way to deep to shove here. |

Re: $330 at Commerce - 100/200 in BB question
Checking preflop isn't necessarily a mistake. Might want to raise sometimes, but that's debatable.
Calling the flop minraise is good. 15 cards help you on turn (9's, J's, hearts) I'd rather see hearts or Jacks rather than a nine. Position on turn. Use it to check-behind or call a priced-in bet to complete your hand by river. If he gets too aggressive on turn and you don't pick up an additional draw on turn... Depends on action. Yeah, pushing over the minraise is fine too. You're pretty much announcing that you're probably on a strong draw if he's a solid player, though. |

Shaun... I disagree that anyone who checks behind this flop is a Nit. Sometimes according to stack sizes, being a "Nit" isnt a bad thing. Taking a free card in position still gives us control in the hand and we have the oppurtunity to catch our hand with our oppponent acting first...potentially unducing him to bet into our made hand on the turn.

If you were to bet as I did, would you bet more than 200 chips, or was half the pot the right amount here?
