Tim Hudson
What is up with this guy? How did he all of a sudden become a stink azz pitcher? I thought for sure he would dominate in the NL but he just gets worse and worse. It can't be that the Braves infield defense is that much worse than when Hudson was with the A's.

He's had oblique problems, and won't throw his nasty splitter anymore, so he relies on movement, which he can't seem to control anymore. Every pitch he leaves up gets hammered since he sits in the very low 90s on a good day.

from the last year in oakland: Ks are up a little, but below league average. Walks are up. Homeruns are up.
Pitchers not striking guys out walk a thin line. Can't give up homers, can't give up walks. You're effective until then. See: Brad Radke, Carlos Silva, Horacio Ramirez, Damian Moss, and hundreds of others.

his k-rate dropped sharply from '03 to '04 - not sure why....and check out the difference in his k-rate from '99 compared to '04.....very different.....and usually pitchers are fairly consistent with k's throughout their career.....weird...

[/ QUOTE ] pitchers' K rates usually consistently decline throughout their careers. only the really good ones keep it up as tehy get older.

[/ QUOTE ] all good points, and add to this the pathetic (defensively) left side of the atlanta infield. heavy groundball pitchers need better infield D than this. look how well webb is doing with counsell and hudson behind him.

The 2002 or 03? Rolaids Relief Man of the year or whatever. I know he went to the ChiSox for a year (one of Williams' few poor acquisitions), then I think he kicked around with the Marlins or something. Now he's probably cleaning toilets somewhere.
