Re: They Have Not Hit Bottom Yet...
Yes, unfortunately Sarkozy's win will make the cause of France's slow destruction a little less clear to the populace. "Didn't we elect a conservative last election?"

Re: France\'s Election is Today
[ QUOTE ]
The second round was today (for anyone still paying attention), and Nicholas Sarkozy is the winner by 6 percentage points. I'm a bit disappointed because I was hoping to see a crazy socialist chick plunge France down the poop-hole, but perhaps this is a good sign. [/ QUOTE ] There were (or still on-going) riots in the streets after the election results were announced. I love the French - they are so enterining. -Zeno |

Re: France\'s Election is Today
I just thought of something funny.
I noticed some of Americans in this thread have said that they prefer the French democratic system (popular, two-round) to the American system. The funny thing is that the New World Order speech would be closer to us if we had had such a system; Bill Clinton never would have won the second round in 1992 |

Royal threatens violence if she loses ""Choosing Nicolas Sarkozy would be a dangerous choice," Royal told RTL radio. "It is my responsibility today to alert people to the risk of (his) candidature with regards to the violence and brutality that would be unleashed in the country (if he won)," she said." |

All of the pre-election polls in 92 showed that Perot was taking an equal number of votes from Bush and Clinton. |

Re: France\'s Election is Today
From Wiki -
Some conservative analysts believe that Perot acted as a spoiler in the election, primarily drawing votes away from Bush and allowing Clinton to win many states with less than a majority of votes. However, exit polling indicated that Perot voters would have split their votes fairly evenly among Clinton and Bush had Perot not been in the race, and an analysis by FairVote - Center for Voting and Democracy suggested that, while Bush would have won more electoral votes with Perot out of the race, he would not have gained enough to reverse Clinton's victory. (They have a footmote for this.) |
