Just to clarify, he doesn't use ketchup in addition to a tomato-based sauce that's already on it right?

The Japanese like using ketchup in a lot of dishes, including spaghetti.

I went to a friends house for dinner in high school. They tell me it's spaghetti, I'm like cool. Dinner rolls around and out comes a bunch of noodles and a few bottles of ketchup. I'm thinking WTF. They all dump ketchup on their noodles and look at me like "what's wrong with you, aren't you going to eat?" so I do it too. Then comes the coup de grace : they have this big cylinder that's like a grated parmesan shaker, but it's not parmesan - IT'S MSG - and they all shake out MSG on the "spaghetti".

I used to actually really dislike my mom's lasagna. One day I came home from college and it tasted great - I asked her what the difference was, and she said she started putting ketchup in there. I would have thought it was weird, but its great.

I've never put ketchup on spagetti. But, how could it be disgusting? It's a tomato sauce too.

I make spaghetti with ketchup and a little sugar - it is one of my favorites. Everyone who tries it likes it. Come on over and I will make you some.
