"Sharaf" Helicopter - The Most Advanced of All Aircraft
Pilot-less aircraft- technological triumph Bullet Proof Vest A New System for Identifying Missiles Seems technology is big part of what they do that isnt to say they dont have manpower(every citzen usually serves in the army) but compared to the bad guys their army is quite small and technology is key |

Re: Ethics Question
Factual to a point. During the Viet Nam war it was not unheard of for Psychiatrists to make a diagnosis of a man which exempted him from military service. Some would seek Psychiatrists who would perform this favor. Of course the US government had the exemption so long as one was in school. The consequences of course were not the same as you stated.
The dislike of this war resulted in the discontinuence of the draft. |

Re: Ethics Question
Agreed, Shadow, but their core strength is how well their corps are trained. The Israelis could fight a guerrilla war for years alone without technology and give good standing.
And this is a pretty elite army, and one of the virtues of mandatory army training is, person for person, the Israelis can defend themselves better than any individual country can, to a person. Switzerland is a notable exception, but then again, nobody's invaded the Swiss in centuries. Their chocolate's too damn good. |

Re: Ethics Question
I would not show favoritism, it is unethical to give a bribor preference to aviod risking his life where others are not able to offer the bribe or feel it is unethical to offer the bribe. It is my responsibility to turn down the bribe out of respect for the tens of thousands who would not offer one.

Re: Ethics Question
Yes, I don't know the exact time table but you can be sure that the loss of the draft was a direct result of the Viet Nam war.
Wasn't there a time in which you registered but not inducted into the armed forces? These are polotical matters and Washington,if nothing else, has a long memory. I got the sense that they didn't want to take the chance on "draft dodgers" undermining their next war. Now you see that they are extending people in Iraq for there are not enough "volunteers". |

Re: Ethics Question
As of 2000, I had to register. The draft is still around.
