I've only been pulled over once by CHP, and it was for doing 85 in a 70. Still pretty ridic imo since the average flow of traffic is 70 in a 55 in some parts of California and 15 over 70 is much less severe than 15 over 55...but what can you do. Ticket was like $130 (this was in the completely empty area between Paso Robles and King City on 101).

Kreel,

Forget about going to court to fight this ticket. It is not worth the time and effort.

Stop by the attorney's office and have them change it to a non-moving violation and pay the ticket.

In all fairness to myself, the roads were icy, the cops were out in force, and it was early in the morning and I hadn't had my coffee yet.

I normally go 75-80 on that stretch... the one day I drive a more reasonable speed I get pulled over... wtf?

[/ QUOTE ]

icy roads eh? friend of mine got a ticket for 50 in a 50 when the roads were icy.

I know a guy who got pulled over for doing 22 in a 15 near an airpot. 50 in a 50 would tilt me a little.

fwiw it wouldnt be "against the law" to go 70 in a 65 zone in california due to the california basic speed law.
